What our experts say

Tip from our butcher

You can't rush a really good bratwurst – it needs time, care, and quality meat. And that's exactly what you taste in the end.

Freyberger's Iberico Bratwurst

Discover our coarse Iberico sausage: This particularly tasty sausage is ideal for pan-frying or grilling. The meat comes from free-range Iberico pigs raised with plenty of space and the finest feed. Of course, like all our products, we prepare it fresh for you every day.

How to perfectly cook Iberico sausages

The Ibérico bratwurst thrives on its high intramuscular fat, the typical marbling of Ibérico pigs fed on acorns. To ensure this fat melts properly and the sausage stays juicy, pan-fry or grill it slowly over medium heat. Too much heat will dry out the pork and diminish its flavor. Allow about four to five minutes per side and turn the sausage only once.

Before preparation, it's best to thaw the bratwurst slowly in the refrigerator, never at room temperature. The subtle spices like paprika and garlic complement the nutty inherent flavor of the meat – so you'll hardly need more than a little salt. Classic accompaniments include fresh farmhouse bread, or a hearty salad for a barbecue. You can find more varieties and tips in our Bratwurst Selectionfor aromatic enjoyment.

Spanish flair meets Franconian craftsmanship

Behind every Iberico bratwurst is an idea that drives us at Freyberger butchers: to bring together the best of two worlds. We combine the meat of Spanish Ibérico pigs, matured through acorn feeding, with the knowledge we have gathered over generations in our sausage kitchen. This results in a product you can taste – not because we claim it, but because we know where every ingredient comes from.

We believe that good sausage requires time, care, and honest sourcing. That's why we rely on traceable origin and fair partners instead of mass production. Each batch is handmade, freshly prepared daily, with the same high standards that a world champion butcher demands of himself. Curious to discover more? Take a look at our fresh bratwurst.

Frequently Asked Questions about Iberico Bratwurst

Fry the Iberico sausage over medium heat for about four to five minutes per side. This way, the intramuscular fat melts evenly and the sausage stays juicy without drying out.

The bratwurst consists of pork from Ibérico pigs, subtly seasoned with spices such as paprika, garlic, and salt. This delicate seasoning enhances the meat's naturally nutty flavor.

The Iberico sausage contains pork and is therefore not suitable for every diet. If you have spice intolerances, check the ingredient list, as paprika and garlic are included.

Due to the marbling and intramuscular fat, the Iberico bratwurst tastes particularly aromatic and nutty. The texture remains tender and juicy, and the taste is more intense than with classic sausage.

Store the Iberico sausage chilled in the refrigerator and consume it promptly after thawing. Thaw frozen goods slowly in the refrigerator, never at room temperature.

Yes, the Iberico bratwurst is well-suited for pan-frying and grilling. The same applies to barbecuing as to pan-frying: medium heat, cook slowly, and turn only once so that the fat doesn't burn.

Fresh farmhouse bread perfectly complements the fine inherent flavor, and a hearty salad pairs well with grilling. Since the seasoning is subtle, you'll hardly need any additional sauces for full enjoyment.

For the main course, you should count on about two to three Iberico sausages per person; as a side dish for a barbecue, one is often enough. If your guests are hungry, it's better to plan a bit more generously.
