a lot has happened in the past few weeks. In the following post, we'll summarize what we, Metzgerei Freyberger, have experienced and, most importantly, what you can still look forward to. We'll give you a brief look back and a glimpse into the future.
Review of May
Makers for Tomorrow
At the beginning of the month, Dirk Freyberger was invited to the "Macher für Morgen" (Makers for Tomorrow) event. Dr. Markus Söder and Federal Minister of Economics Katherina Reiche discussed the future of the skilled trades and associated SMEs with Dirk. Bureaucracy, the economic situation, and consumer trends formed the basis of the dialogue.
Dirk Freyberger, who has already represented the German butchery trade in international competitions and has received multiple awards in his home country, had the opportunity at this event to provide first-hand information to political representatives.
He approached the matter not only as a representative of the skilled trades but also impressed with his experience as a third-generation owner of Metzgerei Freyberger. He received an award for his tireless dedication.
Franconian Bratwurst Summit 2026
We were also represented at this year's Franconian Bratwurst Summit 2026. Our classic Franconian bratwurst convinced the judges and took first place. In addition, our creative bratwurst, the Montreal Maple, also won as the most popular creative bratwurst.
In the public voting, we achieved second place, making us the third king in the history of the Franconian Bratwurst Summit as a butcher shop. Thus, Metzgerei Freyberger now holds the imperial crown.
World Cup Promotion
Independent of the Franconian Bratwurst Summit, our World Cup promotion is still running. We released three different creative bratwursts beforehand: Mac-and-Cheese, Aztekenfeuer (Aztec Fire), and Montreal Maple.
In previous years, our customers decided which creative bratwurst we would compete with at the Franconian Bratwurst Summit. If the creative bratwurst won a prize, it would remain permanently in the butcher shop's assortment, and the rest would disappear.
For the current FIFA World Cup, all three creative bratwursts will remain in the assortment for the entire duration of the World Cup. So, if you haven't tried any of them yet, you have until the end of the Cup to do so.
Outlook June 2026
Butcher Queen
We inaugurated our Butcher Queen at the beginning of June. We held a pop-up event right next to our 24/7 branch. The Butcher Queen is our new food trailer. With it, we can offer you hot meals.
In the future, the Butcher Queen will be used more frequently for catering, events, and much more. You can also look forward to something very special, especially concerning Wagyu.
Our Wagyu
Speaking of Wagyu, we have an announcement for you. We visited our Wagyu farmer and saw how the animals are kept there. We visited the farm with its pastures and spoke with the farmer.
Of course, we weren't there without a camera. We are currently working on the video, and it will soon be released on our YouTube channel Freyberger TV. So, keep an eye on our channel and subscribe so you don't miss it.
Podcast Episode 100
Finally, we have an announcement. Anyone who actively follows us knows that we also have a podcast: Heiße Theke (Hot Counter). On Sunday, June 28th of this year, we will celebrate Episode 100. For this, we have come up with something special.
We will record the episode on that day at our 24/7 branch in the parking lot of Pflanzen-Kölle in Nuremberg (from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM). So, if you would like to be part of the podcast, you can come by and ask us questions during the recording or just talk to us. Joining us and listening is, of course, also welcome.
We are all ears for anyone interested. There will also be a small program, which we will not reveal at this point. The episode will be extra long.
Since we will only be recording it on Sunday, June 28, 2026, the regular upload of the episode may be delayed. But don't worry: the episode will be online by the following Monday at the latest.
