The best poultry in the world

The best poultry in the world comes from France. This is thanks to the poultry farmers of Les Landes. These farmers joined forces with other French poultry farmers in 1965 and pushed for the creation of a government quality seal, first for poultry and later for all animal agricultural products. This allowed heritage breeds and small-scale farm production, as well as the distinctive taste and quality of products, to withstand the countermovement of quantity and cheapness over the decades.

Label Rouge - not a brand but a state seal of quality

Label Rouge stands for perfect quality in terms of nutrition, taste, and hygiene, and for strict controls at all stages of production on the farm, from the feed to the presentation on the store counter. The preventative use of antibiotics is strictly prohibited and, given the husbandry methods used, unnecessary. Poultry must also be raised from slow-growing meat breeds producing high-quality meat. The animals must be kept in small groups, free-range or outdoors. They must be fed a diet consisting of 70 to 80 percent grain. Vegetable protein may be added to the feed. Feeding fish or animal meal is prohibited. The animals usually live twice as long as those from conventional rearing. That's why we are proud to offer you our free-range Label Rouge chicken breast today: the best poultry in the world.

Free-range poultry delicacies: in focus Free-range chicken Effilee Label Rouge

The state seal of quality is awarded not only for chicken and poultry, but also for beef, veal, lamb, and, for example, Scottish salmon. However, our beef and veal are sourced from German producers. With the exception of Scottish salmon, the seal is awarded exclusively to products from France. Our free-range female Barbary ducks are also not Label Rouge certified. Every customer can enjoy this poultry with a clear conscience. Strict controls throughout the entire process, from chickling to slaughter, ensure compliance with all criteria.

      Free-range Effilee Label Rouge chicken

Label Rouge free-range chickens are at least 81 days old at slaughter. Only slow-growing breeds are allowed to be raised. The so-called naked-neck chickens are the most common breed. To receive the label, the animals must meet the highest visual, sensory, and hygiene standards. During the fattening period, the free-range chickens are regularly moved to new locations in mobile barns. At no time are the chickens fenced in after they are chicklets; they are given unlimited access to the outdoors. A specialty that is becoming increasingly rare is the free-range Effilee chicken. Here, the bird is sold with its head and feet, as well as its lungs, heart, and stomach. Slaughtering is very laborious, but it's worth it! Try it.

      white-legged partridge

The all-rounder among chickens. Whether Asian, from the rotisserie, fried or braised. With the Label Rouge white chicken you always eat right. Full-bodied in taste with great structure. Anyone who has tried a Label Rouge chicken like this will stay away from "normal" chickens in the future. This chicken is our best-selling poultry. Whole, the breasts or legs and also the carcasses are very popular with our customers.

      <a href="https://freyberger.myshopify.com/products/freiland-haehnchen-label-rouge-kaufen/" target="_blank">corn-fed chicken</a>

Maybe you know Kikok chickens. These are also corn-fed chickens, but they are a hybrid breed with more space to roam. Label Rouge corn-fed chickens live twice as long. They grow more slowly and spend most of their time outdoors with unlimited space to roam. The free-range corn-fed chicken is the perfect roast chicken. It doesn't get any better than this. Whether whole or in parts, the poultry is a delight.

      Free-Range Guinea Fowl Label Rouge

Over the past centuries, attempts were made to domesticate wild birds. However, either it was not possible to keep the animals in an enclosure and they died, or the domesticated animals lost their typical wild taste, which was the very reason for domestication. With guinea fowl, however, the experiment was successful. Today, it is the poultry that comes closest to wild birds in taste. In our assortment, you will also find guinea fowl legs and supreme guinea fowl breasts. Label Rouge guinea fowl are at least 94 days old before they are slaughtered. After their chick phase, they live exclusively in large, spacious enclosures. Unlike chickens, however, the enclosure must be fenced here, otherwise the animals would escape. Therefore, guinea fowl is an absolute delicacy with a lot of flavor and texture.

      Bresse White Chicken

Bresse white chickens are probably the most expensive chickens in the world. They are raised for a particularly long time. Furthermore, their origin is regionally restricted, resulting in a limited supply, which in turn leads to higher prices due to increased demand. One should try this delicacy once for a special occasion. However, we are of the opinion: trying it once to be able to talk about it is enough. We only offer Bresse chickens as effilée. Occasionally, ready-to-cook ones can also be found. But the most important trademark is the ring with the producer identification on the chicken's leg.

      Label Rouge Quails

Are raised for at least 42 days in traditional free-range farming. Their feed consists of 100% plant-based ingredients, of which at least 75% are cereals, in addition to minerals and vitamins. Since quails fly, they have access to spacious aviaries.

      Corn-fed Poussin

Corn-fed poussins are kept in spacious, bright coops. The young chicks are not yet old enough to leave the nest, so they do not have access to the outdoors. Otherwise, they would be exposed to unpredictable climatic conditions and predators. The small poussins are perfect portion chickens.

      Squab

Squabs are kept in cages with bright aviaries. Their plant-based diet gives the animals an excellent taste. The squabs are slaughtered before they are able to fly, ensuring delicious and tender meat.

      Male Muscovy Ducks

In Muscovy ducks, the drakes are twice as large as their female counterparts. The animals are very meaty. A whole duck is sufficient for about 4 people. The meat of the breast is a little coarser. But ideally suited for preparation in a sous-vide. The legs are very meaty and juicy. Therefore, we recommend you visit our YouTube channel? There you will find countless information and preparation options.

      Female Free-Range Muscovy Duck

Our favorite ducks. A whole female free-range Muscovy duck is enough for about 2-3 people. The small breast fillets are very tender and fine-grained in texture. Therefore, they are excellent for pan-frying or grilling. For the legs, one should definitely plan for two per person for men, if there is nothing else to go with it. Try these delicacies, which are very readily available from August to January.
