Apprentice at the Butchers' World Championship

Previous  / next

Lina Wachter is competing at the World Butchers' Challenge (WBC) in Paris. She is competing in the apprentice category. The young butcher is part of the Butcher Wolfpack, led by world champion captain Dirk Freyberger .

The rules of the World Cup

To participate in the apprentice category, competitors must still be in training for one year prior to the competition. The competition is similar to the young butcher category , in which our employee Pascal Karatay competed.

This is an individual competition in which participants must expertly debone and carve a side of pork , half a lamb , three chickens , and a rump of beef , and present them on a themed display. The trainees have two and a half hours to complete the competition.

In addition to the Apprentice and Young Butcher categories, there's also a team competition. We've written a comprehensive article about it here . Furthermore, video reports for both competitions are available directly on our YouTube channel.

Here you can find the video of the team competition.

Trainee World Cup also as video

Now, of course, we also have a video for the youngest member of the Butcher Wolfpack team on our YouTube channel, Freyberger TV . In the video, we explain exactly what Lina has to do, how she does, and, of course, also show what a competition like this looks like for trainees .

Lina herself landed in the top 10 of the world's best trainees , laying the foundation for future competitions. This competition debut was a complete success for the 18-year-old—but see for yourself in this video .
